Points of Interest:
Fish, like all animals, require oxygen to live. Whereas terrestrial animals get
oxygen from the air, fish get oxygen from the water. Certain substances like anti-freeze and raw human and animal waste consume oxygen, removing it from the water. When oxygen levels get low enough, the fish and other aquatic organisms that live in the water may die.

Coordinated Monitoring Meeting: 2006 meetings were held on April 12 & 13.
The 2007 meetings was held on April 26. The 2008 meeting was held on April 30, 2008.
This is an annual meeting during which the CRP activities of the previous year are discussed and input is solicited for future activities. The steering committee is an important part of the Trinity River Basin Clean Rivers Program. Input from this group serves as the genesis for many of the special studies conducted in the basin.
These meetings serve to bring all of the CRP participating agencies in the basin together to coordinate monitoring efforts. This coordinated effort reduces redundancy and increases monitoring coverage to help make the program more efficient and cost
effective. The coordinated monitoring meeting is held each spring.
