These objectives are pursued through support of local and regional organizations and events. These include stream clean-ups, Texas Watch volunteer monitoring, the Upper Texas Coast Waterborne Education Center (UTCWEC), and the River Legacy Foundation.

Trash Clean-ups
These annual events bring people into intimate contact with the river while removing tons of trash and debris. Clean-ups sponsored through the Clean Rivers Program include T.R.E.E.S., Walker County Proud, Navarro County Cleanup.

T.R.E.E.S., formerly known as Trash Bash, is the largest cleanup effort in the Dallas Fort Worth area. In 2004, volunteers participated in this event and removed over 2,000 tons of trash from 15 different locations throughout the metroplex.

The Trinity River Basin Clean Rivers Program will continue its commitment to support these cleanups in the future. Funding has also been allocated for UTCWEC, Texas Watch and For the Love of the Lake, a grass-roots organization aimed at protecting White Rock Lake.
