New Officers to Lead TRA’s Board of Directors

Arlington-The Trinity River Authority of Texas’ Board of Directors has elected new officers who will lead the 24-member policy setting body for a two-year period beginning on December 1, 2007.            

Michael Cronin of Terrell was named President and a member of the TRA Board’s Executive Committee. Mr. Cronin is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of American National Bank of Texas.

Linda Timmerman, Ed.D. of Streetman was elected Vice President and a member of the Executive Committee. Dr. Timmerman coordinates Strategic Business Development for Texas Dermatology Associates.

Hector Escamilla, Jr. of Carrollton was named Chairman of TRA’s Executive Committee. Mr. Escamilla is a Certified Public Accountant, real estate broker and founder of Escamilla Capital Group.

Other TRA board members elected to serve as members of the Board’s Executive Committee include Harold Barnard of Waxahachie, president and managing officer of the Ellis County Abstract and Title Company; Karl R. Butler of Dallas, founder and president of ICC Energy Group; John W. Jenkins of Hankamer, a self-employed partner in a major farming enterprise, and Kim C. Wyatt of Corsicana, President of Corsicana National Bank and Trust and Chief Executive Officer of Community Bank Holdings of Texas.

TRA board members are appointed to six-year terms by the Governor of Texas. In accordance with TRA’s statute three directors must be appointed from Tarrant County, four from Dallas County, one from each of the other 15-counties within TRA’s political subdivision, and two additional members must be appointed from the political subdivision at-large.           

In other action the Authority’s Board of Directors approved the budget for all of TRA’s operations for Fiscal Year 2008 with total expenditures of $174,333,850. Of this amount $131,784,490 is dedicated toward TRA’s operating projects. This includes $91,940,390 for the operation of five separate regional wastewater treatment systems,    $34,368,060 for four separate regional water treatment facilities, $4,851,180 for water storage in both federal and TRA owned and operated lakes, and $624,860 for the operation of recreation facilities.
