Northeast Tarrant County Cities Requested to Reduce Water Consumption

ARLINGTON, Texas – June 17, 2010 – The Trinity River Authority of Texas today requests that the cities of Bedford, Colleyville, Euless, Grapevine and North Richland Hills encourage their citizens to voluntarily reduce water consumption for the next 24 hours as a precautionary measure to offset low water levels in some of the cities’ above-ground water storage facilities.

These low water levels are the direct result of an unanticipated delay in restoring full operations at TRA’s water treatment plant following a shutdown to complete expansion-related construction. TRA’s request is related solely to the quantity of water available to the cities’ storage tanks, as the quality of the water remains excellent.

All of the water treatment plant equipment has been restored to full operational status, but TRA anticipates that reduced consumption overnight will assist in establishing more water storage supply for the five cities served by the TRA plant.
