SUGGESTIONS FOR USERS

Daily Maintenance of Your PC:

  1. Shut down your PC and power it off at least once a week. This will clean up the memory and increase your PC’s performance.
  2. Activate your screen saver to prevent burn marks on monitor screen. Enable the password protection on screen saver so no one else can use your PC while you are away.
  3. Log off your PC, or at least enable password protection screen saver before you leave every day.
  4. Close all network shared files before leaving each day if you are not using them (example F: drive, U: drive) to assure that your files will be backed up by network administrator during the routine backup process. Open files (including calendars) will not be backed up.
  5. Save your important working files to at least two locations on your C: drive, floppy disks, or network drives for redundancy purposes. It will prevent a crash of one media storage from causing a permanent loss of your files. Users should be careful not to overload network drives.
