| SUGGESTIONS FOR
USERS
Daily Maintenance of Your
PC:
- Shut down your PC and power it off at least once a
week. This will clean up the memory and increase your PCs performance.
- Activate your screen saver to prevent burn marks on
monitor screen. Enable the password protection on screen saver so no one else can use your
PC while you are away.
- Log off your PC, or at least enable password
protection screen saver before you leave every day.
- Close all network shared files before leaving each
day if you are not using them (example F: drive, U: drive) to assure that your files will
be backed up by network administrator during the routine backup process. Open files
(including calendars) will not be backed up.
- Save your important working files to at least two
locations on your C: drive, floppy disks, or network drives for redundancy purposes. It
will prevent a crash of one media storage from causing a permanent loss of your files.
Users should be careful not to overload network drives.
