A public town hall meeting will provide an update regarding flood risk reduction efforts in the mid-basin of the Trinity river, and attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a hands-on demonstration of the new, easy-to-use Flood Incident Reporting app.

WHEN: Thursday, April 15, 2021, 5:30 p.m.

WHERE:
Crockett Civic Center 1100 Edmiston Drive Crockett, TX 75835

DETAILS:
The Trinity River Authority of Texas will present an update on the Trinity basin flood planning group and the efforts to date to help with flood risk reduction efforts in the midbasin. Glenn Clingenpeel, executive manager, technical services and basin planning, and chairman of the Texas Water Development Board Regional Flood Planning Group, will discuss the latest information available regarding a recent U.S. Army Corps of Engineers flood study and funding for flood-related activities. He also will conduct a hands-on demonstration on how to use the Flood Incident Reporting app. The app, created in partnership with TRA, and the National Weather Service, allows landowners to report current or recent flooding in their area, providing near-real time data. Information collected will be used to confirm or refine flood categories and mitigation strategies. Attendees are encouraged to participate and utilize the flood reporting tool to help gather data to better understand what areas are impacted by floodwaters. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
