STRUCTURAL FAILURE, SATURATED SOIL CAUSE SANITARY SEWER OUTFLOW AT TRINITY RIVER AUTHORITY WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY

(ARLINGTON, TEXAS) – The Trinity River Authority Central Regional Wastewater System plant experienced an outflow in its collection system on Thursday, March 26, at 2:15 p.m. The outflow occurred at 2003 Interstate Highway 30 Frontage Road in Grand Prairie. The outflow was caused when rain-saturated soil caused a break in a 102” interceptor line. The outflow will not affect service to any of the plant’s customers. Repairs are in progress.

All wastewater outflows in excess of 100,000 gallons must be reported to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the public and other designated public officials. The final estimated quantity of the outflow will be reported to TCEQ.

The outflow is diluted, and no public drinking water supplies have been threatened or contaminated by this outflow; no aquatic life has been affected. The public is reminded to avoid contact with any waste material, soil or water near the affected area.
